Our group’s cult is ramping up to Tier 1, so I’ve been reading up on those rules and I’ve a couple of (stupid/obvious) questions, that might make perfect sense to people who’ve actually used them on the table already:

1. when you advance in tier, your hold drops by one level – is it possible to advance when your hold is weak?

2. when you go to war, your hold is reduced by one level temporarily (for the duration of the war) and if your hold is already weak, you drop a tier – does this mean that when the war finished, you go back up the tier you lost because your hold was already weak, or do you remain down on the lower tier and just gain hold instead?

3. Does the drop in Tier affect everything (Rep for taking them on, size of gangs, downtime actions etc.) that depends on Tier?

Another session with the Orphans of the Bloodmoon – whereby they deceive another cult to abandon an offertory.

Must say, I really enjoyed GMing this session; despite wondering how the hell they could pull off such a score, there was a lot of really neat ideas thrown up and it worked very well in the end

Obviously this isn’t how the ghost lines work (right?) but it’s still terrific!

Obviously this isn’t how the ghost lines work (right?) but it’s still terrific! Maybe there are lines running at the bottom of some of the canals and this is an exclusive means of travel on top of barges/gondolas?

First proper session of a new campaign. Cult, fairly physically oriented characters except for the Whisper, so I’m not sure we’re going to see a lot of social/subtle! Pretty normal game, players getting used to the mechanics I guess, some nice use of teamwork, but no flashbacks.

Just wondering if James Stuart’s Broken Crown playset would suit a ‘Shadows over Camelot’ style campaign where the PCs were scoundrels working against King Arthur?

I know the stretch playsets will probably scratch the itch, but does anyone else have a hankering to see a (minor) noble house as a crew in Duskwall? Trying not to hack this game before I see it all! 😉

A few questions after I re-read the Quick Start yesterday:

1. Reducing Heat – mirroring Chris Boyd’s question from yesterday I wonder if a few examples of the types of action for Reducing Heat would be helpful. (fits under the ‘you’re responsible for choosing the tone of your game’ heading I suppose)

2. Unusual Weapons – is the choice a signature one for the character or just picked up from the group’s stash?

3. Wanted – is this the equivalent of trauma for a gang (i.e. 4 is an endpoint) or is this slightly different?

4. Coin – are a scoundrel’s and the gang’s coin equivalent amounts or are they on different scales?

5. Matchlock pistol – not a big point at all, but you probably should consider changing this to a Wheelock or Flintlock or something; I can’t imagine a scoundrel keeping a matchlock pistol lit or wanting to have to light it on demand during a job 😉
