Sean Nittner are you planning on updating the vigilantes playbook for the final release of the game? I’m planning on running a oneshot for some slightly less scoundrely friends soon and I think it would be perfect for them. Gonna break into Scurlock’s manor and disrupt some ancient magic.

So that damn Leech player is at it again, this time with a character idea that we’re working out how to/if we should implement it.

The basic idea is a foppish dandy slide with servants who all count as the one “character.” So rather than taking harm himself he would throw his servants in the way and have to replace them.

My gut reaction is to say no and make him take a gang for it, but I have a reputation for being very “literal” with rules and I’d like a second opinion.

My main concern is that as Blades is fictional positioning the game this could lead to confusion about effect down the line. I’m curious what others thoughts are, how you would implement such a character or if there’s anything we should watch out for (the harm system immediately springs to mind). It’s not that I don’t trust my player but we’re all new to the system and still figuring things out.

Thanks very much for helping out a blades newbie. 🙂

Question: i seem to recall there being an old rule preventing PCs from getting their action dots to four unless certain conditions were satisfied? Is that still a thing? I’m about to have a leech with four dots in wreck and a grenade launcher going into session two and I’ll be honest it’s a little scary xD

Quick Question: Normally when you resist harm it goes down a level, but sometimes the PC already has the lower level filled up, I would rule in this instance that the player can’t actually resist the harm because a level three wound (severed arm) would be turned down to a level 1 wound (nicked pinkie). Am I correct in this judgment?

So I’m coming up on my actual campaign soon “woooo!” and since one of my party members is Tycherosi I wanted to ask… I’m under the impression that a lot of people in the Isles just distrust Tycherosi because of the whole demonic blood thing, but I feel like it’s a bit harsh to penalise all interactions with others that aren’t of the same heritage via lowered effect.

He specifically wants to play a Whisper who’s also a smooth-talker so I was looking for real-play examples on how to handle this sort of thing. I really want to impress the Tycherosi situation on the player without making it seem like I’m punishing the character concept. Any help is greatly appreciated

Don’t let his pitch-black eyes and the fact that he’s a Tycherosi fool you, this Whisper’s a real charmer and popular with the ladies. Edlun Clermont hails from distant lands and often speaks of the voices of the deep coming to him in his dreams. He surely is a real standup guy and has NEVER MURDERED ANYONE IN HIS LIFE… on an unrelated note have any of you guys read American Psychopath?

My oneshot a few weeks ago was such a success, I’m running a campaign in like 3 weeks HYPE.

My oneshot a few weeks ago was such a success, I’m running a campaign in like 3 weeks HYPE. One of my players is a talented artist and has drawn some of the player characters, I’ll be sharing them as he makes them so no promise of consistency. Here we have Phin “Nails” Strangford the Skovlan Cutter, he’s got the strength of five men some say and it serves him well in the fighting pits of the Docks district. Known to have participated in the Skovlan War of Unity he holds a grudge against any and all Akorosi, looking to “put the hurt on” the nobility of the Doskvol

The Thief series is recommended as a touchstone for this series and as it’s looking like I’ll be running for a crew of shadows I’m looking to give at least one of them a try. Can anyone recommend which one(s) are most relevant to BITD or which one I should start with? I look forward to hearing your recommendations!
