Back in 2012 I adapted the Thief video games to Fictive Hack, my version of Kirin Robinson’s Old School Hack game. While I have continued refining the rules and they are smoother and better now, I can still whole-heartedly recommend the flavor text and random generators in this little game.

Also, the awesome cover was done by Kristy Shields and is worth a look on its own.

The most modern and polished version of the Fictive Hack rules is in my Avengers game! You are welcome to check that out too.

All this Blades in the Dark talk got my juices flowing for Dishonored, so I played through it again this last week or so. I have played through it before. Maybe more than twice.

Anyway, I started talking like Strongbad while playing. Kristy Shields thought that was funny enough that she made a picture and a tumblr for it. I thought I would share it just for fun.

Some of the references will make no sense unless you are pretty familiar with the game. This may or may not make them funnier.

Watching Penny Dreadful tonight, to get in that pseudo-Victorian Steampunk state of mind for my first BitD game on thursday. Victorian London at night certainly establishes the right mood.

Current Kickstarter campaign for Cucu dice is doing rather well – they are meant to be colour-coded for success rates. So for BitD, we’d have “red” as full success, “green” as partial success and “blue” as bad outcome. So if you get any reds, great! No reds but greens, alright. No reds or greens? BAD OUTCOME.

Maybe not as intuitive as using numbered dice, but they are pretty. Pledge levels are pretty competitive too. Buy, buy, buy!
