I’m torn between two different ways of picturing Leviathan Hunters. I really like sails, so even though they’re steam powered, I want them to have masts and sails. Fortunately, that’s a fairly common design from the 19th century. My big internal debate is whether they are side-paddle, for instance the SS California or screw propeller, like the Orca. On the one hand the side-paddle is more steampunk and has a more modern feel to it (despite actually being an older design and the screw propeller being newer). On the other hand, a screw propeller ship has more deck space and can really fly a lot of sail, which just looks cooler. An actual Leviathan Hunter would be bigger than the ships pictured here by quite a bit, but I’m wondering how other people picture them.

Is this what people think of, or is it more Ironclads and the like?

As a follow up to my previous question, I’d love a thread about good arcane implements a Whisper might make.

One our Whisper made is shoe soles that muffle all sound, so you’re extra quiet. We use it mostly for positioning/effect, but I’m tempted to make it a special armor.

Otherwise, what have you all come up with?

I have a Whisper that took Strange Methods and is starting to make arcane items, charms, that sort of thing.

I have a Whisper that took Strange Methods and is starting to make arcane items, charms, that sort of thing. She wants to sell them, which I think makes sense. I was basically going to treat it as “Use a downtime action, make your roll, get coin equal to the Tier of the thing you make”, but I was wondering if people have other good ideas for how to run this? Ways to make it fun/bring more rolling into the mix?

I absolutely do not mind my characters having ways to crank out coin, there’s always something to spend it on so I’m not worried about that. But I do worry about making sure everything is fun and has consequence. I mean eventually I think the Spirit Wardens will come knocking, but before that, any fun ways to have a store?

Hey, I have a question about how to handle a situation.

Hey, I have a question about how to handle a situation. In the game I’m running, our Cutter discovered which gang murdered his friend, found two members of that gang, beat them to a pulp, knee-capped one, and said “Tell your friends I’m coming for all of them.”

Well, the gang isn’t going to go quietly, and instead plans to attack the Cutter next session, basically just catching him out in the street and knifing him. I was wondering how to run this, since it’s a pretty NPC driven action instead of player driven. My thoughts were that I basically make it an impromptu Score, where the Cutter uses his Survey as the engagement roll to see if he sees the ambush coming. He can also choose score type at that time, is he going to stay and fight (Assault), try to flee (Stealth), or maybe even talk his way out (Deception or Social). Does that sound like the way to run it?

My other thoughts were just do it all as free play, but that seems too abstract and the group is probably going to take some stress, if not harm, so I want them to have downtime actions after. Thoughts?

So I’ve been going over the book, and really the only mention of the Lord Governor is the estate.

So I’ve been going over the book, and really the only mention of the Lord Governor is the estate. Is there currently a Lord Governor? What’s the relationship with the City Council? It would seem to be strained, considering the Council is enemies with the Imperial Military, but who is the Governor?

Hey, does anybody have any recommendations for how to run a crew of Con men?

Hey, does anybody have any recommendations for how to run a crew of Con men? The Shadows crew sheet doesn’t really have a lot to do with this kind of heist. My players want to be more like Oceans Eleven or Hustle rather than sneaking in and stealing. Any thoughts? Custom crew sheets?

Thanks
