Crew upgrades: What are the differences between Gear, Implements, Tools and Supplies?
Crew upgrades: What are the differences between Gear, Implements, Tools and Supplies? In many cases, they’re very much the same things. Thoughts?
Also, can you spend your intial crew upgrade points between the ones listed as “Crew Upgrades” on the crew sheet (in the middle gray box) as well as the untitled crew upgrades on the bottom left (Secure Lair, Vault, etc.)? Or are the latter for after-play only?
So, a hagfish farm aids in body disposal, which seems really cool.
So, a hagfish farm aids in body disposal, which seems really cool. However, doesn’t this mean you need to carry your mark to said farm to be disposed of? If so, it seems like a big risk for assassins to take. It also enters into the discussion on load/encumbrance (if that’s a thing to you).
Also, why does street fence grant +2 coin for lower-class targets? What is this representing?
Finally, if you keep to yourselves and stay under the crow’s sight, it might seem as if victim trophies wouldn’t help with rep as there’s nobody to see them.
I’m asking about these claims to get advice on representing them in the fiction, not arguing if they’re worth it. I really dig them.
John, will there be more detail on claims in the book?

So, work’s been slow and my brain’s been on Blades, Borderlands and Skyrim.
So, work’s been slow and my brain’s been on Blades, Borderlands and Skyrim. It hit me…CL4P-TP as a hull! With Cicero’s ghost at the helm! Yes, as goofy as this is I need it to be a creepy and darkly humorous thing in my game! Perhaps as a noble’s hull servant?
Funny business aside, what hulls have you come up with for your game? In ours, aside from “Cicero-TP” (no, that’s not it’s name) I like the idea of a hull assassin that has humanoid, spider, snake and bird frames as well as a noble’s daughter who died and the child’s ghost has a creepy doll-like body. The child-ghost came back…different, quickly subjugating the household and holding it in fear. The face of the family is the father, but he bends to the capricious whims of his dangerously cunning dead daughter. For some reason this hull broke its chains of servitude, perhaps having none to begin with, a father’s love being as it is.
A Cult of Assassins?
A Cult of Assassins? How would YOU build them? I ask because my players have shown an interest in it after revisting Skyrim and the Dark Brotherhood, so I’m looking for ideas/opinions/inspiration.
My fiancé and I created Bethiel, Goddess of Assassins. Aso known as the Queen of Stilled Hearts and Matron of Unclosed Eyes. Rare is her blessing which requires the ritualistic suicide of the supplicant, by way of prayer and a special poison. At the hairs breath moment where the heart would beat its last, time stops and the assassin is judged. If worthy, their heart beats on, Bethel’s gifts now granted. If found wanting, the heart remains forerver still as time moves on, the petitioner’s soul taken to the Red Realm. It is believed the unworthy become Bloodshades, the spectral minions of Bethiel. It is considered a terrible fate.
Anyway, we’re still working on the gifts patronage grants, but so far we dig it.

This isn’t spamming but I felt it relevant and had to say, if you’re interested in Dishonored 2 and haven’t played it yet, do! The story, level design and breathtaking lore is incredible. I’m on my third run (trophy hunting!) and imagine a gloomier tone (no sun, mists, the wails of ghosts in the dark), giving me incredible inspiration for Blades. The powers have my mind reeling as to how they can fit as uses of Tempest or a ritual. There’s so much to steal whole-cloth and again, I can’t recommend it enough to get you more amped for Blades!
If any are interested in sharing things they enjoyed about it and how it can be Bladesy, please do. I’m putting a SPOILERS tag from here on as to not ruin it for others.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW!!! 🙂

John, I was wondering your reasoning behind an inherent penalty for using alchemicals.
John, I was wondering your reasoning behind an inherent penalty for using alchemicals. As an example, it seems harsh that spiking a victim’s drink with poison (perhaps pouring a vial into a glass of wine) would merit possible exposure to the poison.
I know the reason’s staring me in the face, I’m just missing it.
Has anyone done a crew sheet of Van Helsing-style hunters?
Has anyone done a crew sheet of Van Helsing-style hunters? Each playbook has nifty-ass things to bring to the monster-hunting table, but it hit me how awesome a Slayers crew type would be. They could be exactly the kind of daring (unhinged?) individuals needed to hunt ghosts, vampires and demons (as well as their cults), being contracted by powers legitimate and otherwise. Whatever ookies crawl through the perpetual night, there’s too often a need to pay coin to investigate, castigate, capture and annihilate “them”. I really feel that Blades can do this extremely well.
I need to work on this.
Oh, yeah. I’m super-impressed with the hacks I’ve seen and would like to take a stab at my own (obviously), however I have no experience whatsoever with any of the computer wizardry involved. What would be a good place to start if I wanted to grab the source files tier for the KS?
