I renamed my hack formerly known as Household Renovation of Great and Terrible Power. It is now called Mortally Bankrupt, and as such, I had to change the logo too.

Are we getting more general adjectives for what each Trait Rating means in v8?

I’ve been playing for a year but it’s still a part of the game I have some amount of discomfort with assessing because I don’t have the best place in the current QS to just go, “Okay, the path from one side of Nightmarket to the other widthwise is probably a Quality X distance because it’s a Serious or Formidable distance. This being instead of lengthwise which is a Brutal distance which would be Quality Y. So, I’ll roll X dice to add to this Deadline clock when the PCs travel there by foot.” Or something to that effect when you wind up in those weird situations like giving someone X number of Carefulness dice.

Please somebody make a hack where you don’t start with any action dots.

Please somebody make a hack where you don’t start with any action dots. I would play the fuck out of that. You have to

I mention it because I’m toying with starting my playbooks off with 1 dot in two different actions this week, instead of 2 in one action and 1 in another action.

I want to open up the topic about resisting twice.

I GM Blades with a halfway approach on the gritty-freewheeling resistance spectrum. If you narrate how you completely avoid a consequence, you resist it completely. If you narrate how you reduce a consequence, then you do that. When it only reduces in steps, I’m going to allow my players to resist multiple times, but only so long as it falls in line with the “Don’t Roll Twice for the Same Thing” rule.

For example, the consequence is Level 2 Harm “Slashed”. You can’t “parry away his blade” and resist multiple times with Prowess. But you could, “Push Him Backward when he Lunges” and resist with prowess down to Level 1 “Pierced”, and “I catch on to his fighting tempo” and resist the rest of the way with insight.

Fair warning, I probably won’t respond to any comments, because presumably this will open a gateway to some sort of splintery, garbled, endless-rebuttal, people-talking-around-each-other rules debate.

It’s just something I’m writing for people to go “Hm!!” to.

I’ve put everything together into a playlist on youtube now. Once Eric puts up the VoDs from yesterday I’ll add that too. Cabin Crashers is our most recent campaign. I’d start with any one of those, cause those have Recaps for each episode once we start playing.

If you come along, you can play along as The Dark Web Playbook. It’s my audience participation thing. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3C61GL8-fUXcU5IdDVLMFJROXM/view?usp=sharing

It’ll be tonight, the 28th. 5 PM Pacific Time at twitch.tv/ericvulgaris. Also it’s my birthday, so not coming would make you a horrible person. 😉

John Harper Okay.

John Harper Okay.

John Harper Okay. I’ve reached the point. It’s time to make a town map. I’ve watched the entirety of the map hangouts, but I’m not even close to that point yet so I gotta ask how you got started drawing out Doskvol.

Fortunately, I have a pretty strong concept of my first Household Renovation neighborhood in my head because it’s just this amalgamation of places where I have lived. According to google, several of those towns are gerrymandered as shit, which seems like fun to draw. I mean. I don’t have large bodies of water cutting up my map. It’s inland. Would it be wise to mark in some of the major streets that swoop across the whole thing first? Also, if your brain comes up with anything to the tune of “The thing that most surprised me when making my first maps was…” then that’s good too. 🙂
