I could also picture the voice on the radio calling for The Warriors blood in the movie to have something to do with this Street Vibe concept. Maybe less possessing ghosts and more influencing those of a violent nature into action. Messing with emotions, dampening them, pushing them out of control twisting them. Instead of ghosts and weird magic anyway.
Maybe the all female gang that lured some of The Warriors in had some sort of siren style vibe powers?
Just watch gangs of new york’s opening scene (again). So much inspiration there too – Religion, trades, vice. All over turf (and thus control).

I do need to watch Gangs of New York again. I haven’t since it originally came out.
