I believe John has confirmed it as total. The PC’s have to agree on some ‘fair’ division of loot it it doesn’t divide evenly.
I have been fairly generous with the Coin, and the group is always surprised by A. How much they earned from the last job, and B. How little of it is left after expenses have been taken care of. Right after the job: “Wow! 10 Coin, we’re rich!” After downtime actions and entanglements: “Hey, where did all the Coin go?” I consider this a feature of both the system and the setting.
I’m weirdly attracted to HAVING to unevenly divide the remainders of some points. Like how having to spend ALL OF YOUR Resource Points in Burning Wheel forces your character to be SLIGHTLY out of the range of what you intended them to be.
Yep, the payoff is one total, not per character.
