What gang types do we know are going to be in Blades in the Dark?
Thieves (in the quickstart)
Hawkers (draft available somewhere)
Cultists (draft available somewhere)
Vigilantes
Bluecoats (a supplement)
Assassins
Breakers
Smugglers
Am I missing any?
Crossposting this from a thread on rpg.net (where John Harper goes by feng)
Amended list after finding a G+ list from Feng
The current set is:
Assassins
Breakers (extortionist thugs, kind of)
Cult
Hawkers
Smugglers
Thieves
And, if we hit the stretch goals:
Bluecoats
Inspectors
Enforcers
Spirit Wardens
Rail Jacks
Other Stretch Goals (not mentioned in the post):
Grifters
Vigilantes
Leviathan Hunters
George Pitre Right! I recognize some of those now that I see them.
I think it would be neat if one or more new alternative crew types make it in the next version of the quickstart.
I fully agree to that.
Maybe another crew type opens up other difficulties. From what Andrew and others posted, the most issues were with success expectations of players, Complications and Dangers spiral out of controll, Flashbacks hitting to hard on failures.
I am a bit nervous as i start GM Blades in 2h…..
Josephe Vandel Of course more crew types will open up other difficulties. =) I mostly want to look them over to compare and contrast and look for inspiration.
As you prepare to run the game, this might be helpful: it’s just fine for characters to get beat up and kicked around, but when players lose heart, that’s where the game goes down. If you can keep the players with you, then all kinds of bad things can happen to their characters and the game is still fun.
The key, I think, is to keep an eye on what the PLAYERS can handle. They affect the fun of the game way more than characters do. =)
Good luck!
Pavel Berlin Yes, and perhaps emulate the kind of mystery solving in the Sherlock Holmes stories–or more likely, stories like the most recent movies.
I think it will be interesting to see what tools are put forward to quickly generate a mystery to solve. Kevin Crawford has some brilliant suggestions and tables for kicking crimes into an adventure on short notice in Silent Legions.
There will likely also be new crew types that aren’t listed by George from the “Broken Crown” stretch goal. I don’t know what they will be, but maybe something like Revolutionaries?
Chris Boyd Maybe “Irregulars” or “Platoon.” =)
I already integrated Revolutionary NPC Crews, there are actually several ones with different agendas.
Well, Andrew, its your foult I inserted Military and Clerus Backgrounds 😀
But a Lurk/Monk was the only one on Clerus, beeing a follower of the Bleeding Angels. Military and revolutionary groups gotten a lot more attention as we play in the war torn Capital of Skovlan.
