I am thinking about a Blades pbp in addition to my one shots. The one thing I am hung up on for it is blades has a lot of meta-conversation when deciding the situation and scale. For those of you that have done this before do you have an example of how you handled it, also I am curious how you do end of session stuff. I assume the best way is when the score is over I should close the scene and open up meta conversation.

It’s best if the conversation happens in the moment. I realize that is trickier with play by post, but you might want to have another thread open to talk about it.
Here’s an example from our last game. Two students were trying to convince a the dean of unnatural philosophy to share his office with a meek history professor. The dean fancied himself a world traveler and had curios from all over.
One of the students was Tycherosi and she tried to impress him by telling him one of his curios was a fake, but from my point of view that was a very dangerous gamble. The player picked Sway as the action.
He might be impressed that she spotted it but there was also a great chance this would bruise his ego. The dean oozed charm and was followed by sycophants all the time, which Jadvyga knew so I told the player that and said it would be Desperate, but if she wanted to try another way of winning him over, she could take another approach. Eric, thought it over and decided “heck, I like XP” and also “yeah, but this is what I want to try” so we stuck with it…
…Two minutes later, instead of getting upset, Dean Yerial Danwood was talking at length to Jadvyga about her home and had her completely enamored. (Serious compromise: Mad crush on Danwood).
I’m using a separate discussion area for OOC talk on the rules. IC stuff is all in the actual play area with occasional small OOC footnotes /tags.
Thanks for the feed back, any pointers on when to do end of session experience? Should I just do it with the end of score stuff?
nice
I haven’t done it yet, as we’ve only just started, but I would do it as post score, before the next score and downtime as we tended to finish a score in a single session in face to face games
Drop Dice, since you’re doing play by post, I think doing end of session XP at the end of the Score and at the end of Downtime makes sense. We play a weekly game and generally in 3 hours we either complete a score or downtime, but not both.
Drop Dice I’ve been running a game since before Christmas. It’s going quite well. Best advice I can give is to work with your players. To begin with it was slow but now we have a few things to speed up such as rolling with a devil’s bargain and then asking. Then if they choose not to use it. I just ignore the last dice.
If you want to have a read through some of the other things we’ve subtly done then you can find the game here: http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39164
