Coming up with a few ideas before my next session and wanted some help, fitting fiction to the system.
So far my crew haven’t gained much rep, keeping their two operations very quiet. They have gained heat though (quite a lot), mostly from devils bargains etc. On their last session they were meant to take over a piece of turf from the Lampblacks to coordinate with strikes by Mylera Klev on Baz’s turf to weaken him. They chose to do a social for this and didn’t end up getting the turf that score, only setting up for an assassination to win the turf (which they could have completed at the party they were at).
They chose to leave however, so I’ve advanced time. They rolled a 6 on entanglements for “arrest”, which i kept secret and up my sleeve.
Now I’m writing their newspaper which I do each session (Thanks for that idea whoever made the one for rollplay, it’s super handy to flag events to players). Fortune rolls meant Baz and Mylera were equally successful and carried out attack on each others turf simultaneously. The paper said the bluecoats have released statement “arrests are being made.” but were deliberately vague.
Could Mylera have dropped my crews name to give up to the bluecoats for not securing the turf in time? Despite +1 Status (I was thinking despite being allies the bluecoats may ask Mylera for a token arrest). As Mylera and Baz were both successful, shall I advance both of their destroy each other faction clocks? How far does time normally advance on a downtime? Should I -1 Status with red sashes or would that need something more serious. Thoughts appreciated.
The amount of time that passes in downtime is up to you and your group , it’s left intentionally vauge, but I usually have it be around a week, or sometimes longer or shorter if the fiction demands it. As for the situation, I believe the +1 status with the Red Sashes says they will help as long as it causes no problems and expect the same from the crew. A good way to show the entanglement come to fruition is the Bluecoat’s asking for a token arrest is definitely within their wheelhouse. As for the -1 faction status, Mylera expects the crew to help as long as it doesn’t cause issues for them as she would, if they convince her they could save the relationship, or since my crew was in a similar situation with Mylera cause they failed their first score(an attempt on Baszo’s life) you could start a Mylera’s Ire clock and they could work against it or let it fill and that could be the faction status dropping. I felt the immediate status drop was too harsh for my crew, but it’s your game so you do what you see fit man. I hope my words help and I wasn’t too late 😀
Thanks, not too late at all. We actually went on a brief hiatus and resume again on Monday, so I’m just getting back to thinking about what the involved factions are up to now. I also think a -1 may be a little harsh, as they do plan to finish the score. I think I will go with that then and have Mylera send the Bluecoats their way, it serves a purpose as a warning too, then I think I will follow that up with a clock.

We play on roll20, so just created a handout from an editable newspaper format you can search on google for. I used one from here, just edit then save it as a image file, either print or handout online. presentationmagazine.com – Editable Olden Times Newspaper
