How does a vampire choose to leave its body?  I.e. when does the bound stricture come into effect?

1. If they’ve chosen the bound stricture, their spirit can never leave their body.  Otherwise I’d judge they can separate at will.

2. I figured that the spirit left the body upon “death” the same way a living creature’s spirit detaches from its body upon death.

3. I play it as Will says. If they’re bound,  they’re destroyed if their undead body is destroyed. If not, they once again become a ghost if they lose their body. They can’t become a ghost at will (but that’s an interesting special ability idea!)

4. That’s probably where the taphouse rumors of vampires turning to mist when they’re killed and fleeing comes from – they don’t turn to mist, but when their body is destroyed the possessing ghost has to flee to find another body.

   …or something like that. 🙂
