Question about firearms.

Question about firearms.

Question about firearms.

It seems to me that the general opinion is that firearms in Duskwall is rather “primitive” with single load shooters.

However, I am pretty much sticking to the rest of the settings 1870s references, in which firearms were actually getting pretty good.

I know we can do what we want, but what are peoples opinions on firearms in Duskwall?

  1. I think that for rifles you could draw inspiration from martini Henry or trapdoor Springfield rifles. As for pistols you could just say that revolvers were never invented and pistols tend to be based on miniaturized rifle actions, double barrel break action designs or pepperbox designs. That way you keep the 1870s vibe of cartridge fed breach loaders while limiting the amount of suppressive fire the players can lay down. Look at Lancaster pistols, Remington rolling block pistols, and Allen and Thurber pepperbox pistols for inspiration. You could also say that the default would be percussion cap primed weapons and that the bluecoats trying to get military grade weapons would result in then getting cartridge fed firearms. You could also have firearms development advance as the games go on. That one player had a pretty cool double barrel percussion cap pistol at the beginning of the game but the imperial armory just released their new revolving sidearm this year! When will the blue coats get a hold of them? Could we steal a shipment? Maybe a leech could reverse engineer one!
