Understand if this question can’t be answered currently; but with 8.0 eliminating gather info as a downtime action, I’m wondering how the Spider’s “connected” ability changes? do they just get +1 result on long term projects to gather information (as well as assets and heat rolls as before)?

It’s not “being eliminated” it’s just being renamed for clarity.
might have to wait for it, but I think it becoming more of a freeplay thing means it relies on the circumstances of the action taken (what it should uncover, and whether it carries risk)

My understanding is there are different names between the downtime action of gathering information and the free play choice to gather information. So the spider’s ability will functionally stay the same just be specific to one of the actions and not include both options.
