Regarding the Veteran special ability – do the three boxes mean it takes three advances to get – or that it can be taken 3 times to get three abilities from another playbook?

If they are not linked boxes then each is a separate advance, as I understand it.
Each takes one advance to purchase, and there is no limit of 3. That was simply a sheet/graphics layout decision to have 3 displayed as the base.
mike teuscher Wait, so there’s not a limit of 3 veteran advances? I thought that was in place to keep characters from drifting too far in to the other roles. Interesting to hear it’s open. Thanks for clarifying.
Nope, confirmed as correct in the recent developer AMA by John. Notice there’s nothing in the rules saying anything about a limit? 🙂
mike teuscher I’ve only just been able to download v8.1 (wasn’t able to get v8.0) so haven’t been able to do a full read through yet. I’ll keep an eye out.
I love how that a game as simple as blades has more to reveal over time, even to those who have been watching it since the KS Campaign was announced. Sign of good design.
