New to Blades and seeing a lot of discussion on Position/Effect. Seems like it boils down to simply Risk/Reward. Or that’s at least another way to put it.

Yeah, I’ve always had better luck framing it as Risk/Reward… But I think the designer’s intent was to have players want to push themselves to set up better position, hence the naming.
Still, after someone mentioned the risk/reward naming in another thread, I’ve stuck with it. It this way better at the table. Sucky part is it makes Roll20 super confusing as the sheets use the standard naming.
Yeah that’s basically right.
Position is “how badly will this be if I mess up?”
Effect is “how well will this go for me if I succeed?”
