I’m thinking about a hack where the players play as members of a resistance to German occupation during WW2. Inspiration would be games like Saboteur and Wolfenstein: The New Order, or movies like Inglorious Bastards, Valkyrie, or Defiance.

Of course, the objective of every game is to kill Hitler.

EDIT: Okay, I’ve gotten started. Working title is “Redoubled Courage” after a quote by Chiune Sugihara

  1. Instead of WW2 you could choose the Weimarer Reich in the 20ies and 30ies, when the various parties employed bands of thugs (SA/SS) to disrupt their political opponents’ efforts. KPD, SPD, NSDAP, DDP, DtSP etc. Goals would include corrupting voting.

  2. I really like this. Seeing Blades in a more realistic backdrop feels interesting. I could also imagine the rivalry between groups of resistance members in boasting of their greatest feats when things go their way, and the gut punch when things go haywire and one of their members is lost in action. Swords Without Masters jovial/glum comes to mind. I’d love to see the gamebroth that comes out of all these ingredients put together. Mmmmm gravy….
