  1. Brandon Perkins September was the last Production Timeline update, John said he’d already done a significant amount of work on it. But when it comes to Kickstarter stretch goals, I’d say the rule of thumb is “It’s done when it’s done.” 😛

  2. Ziv Wities thank you ziv. I’d seen that, actually, but I’d always felt that – as much as I do enjoy shadowrun – it’s only ever had a passing acquaintance with cyberpunk.

  3. I don’t like the idea of a generic cyberpunk reskin much, if that’s what you mean J Stein. I Would be excited to see some specific visions for the dystopic future, though

It’s worth mentioning that the SR thing I wrote is not The cyberpunk hack. Or even A cyberpunk hack. Its trying to avoid the space that Null Vector will likely occupy; and pretty much puts Shadowrun in its own weird category of fantasy sci-fi, and what I wrote is to help players have fun with that fiction

  4. I’m thinking post-cyberpunk myself. I’m especially tired of the dystopian trope. I think a space that taps more into the style of Gotham City we see in Batman: the Animated Series and Batman Beyond, where you have a false utopia with a seedy underbelly, but is otherwise a more normal society to be a bit more to my tastes.

  5. Brandon Perkins I admit I’m still fond of the dystopia, but I have an increasing appreciation for the Headspace-approach of “things suck; you believe they can be made better and, if you try, they can.”

As much as I love almost everything about The Sprawl as a cyberpunk game, it’s (genre-faithful) encoding of “the world sucks, and you’re generic, replaceable sell-out cogs” is a niche that… I’m happy to have the chance to play when I’m in the mood, but also, I’m happy other games are encoding other lenses.

  6. I feel the world and our perspectives of it is gloomy enough. I know some people like to cope and or de-stress by immersing in a darker place so when they resurface the real world feels, by comparison, cleaner.

I have been gaming and reading into meta-cognitive functions (for my job) for so long that I feel that when I roleplay, I am bringing something back with me, and I would rather bring back something better in myself. I am very down with the idea, “things suck, but together we can make a difference.”

  7. Brandon Perkins Oh dear. And now my inner child is pounding his little fists on the desk in a steady rhythm and chanting “do it! Doooo iiiiit!” while my feminine side is dragging out the strat guide to FFX-2 to drool over the pictures again…

  8. Brandon Perkins Reiver and I have been working on something a little more experimental in the playbooks area for about a month now. FWIW: it might settle back down into Fighter – Thief – White Mage – Black Mage at some point, but for now we are trying to develop some new things. This is mostly due to the lack of class distinction in FF7 and lore of materia and the Lifestream.
