Hey, I got the V6 Quickstart, and It’s amazing, and  my regular gaming group has thrown out a two year campaign in order to play it. Only one question, several of my characters have been on the wrong end of the Inspectors and landed in Ironhook. I couldn’t find any of the rules for prison claims in the book, barring that they exist. What do these claims do? I would hate for a player to roll a six, and not knowing what happens. Any help would be super appreciated!

  1. I don’t know the answer to your question, but if I were in your position, I would look at the existing claims and use them as a guideline. Maybe give them a claim from another playbook (ordinarily unavailable). I feel like the prison claim should be slightly more valuable than a regular claim because it’s kind of risky to get.

  2. Oooooh, I think your crew is in hot water there! I’m sure John Harper will be along shortly with the answers you seek 🙂

That said, are you hoping to run some prison heists (action rolls and the whole shebang) to seize the claims rather than just parsing it as downtime and reducing wanted level?

  3. Take a look at prison movies for inspiration. Things like taking over the drug/cigarette racket in your wing. Seek out venal prison officers to aid you in smuggling stuff in. Get a job in the prison laundry/kitchens for a cushy number.

  4. Well, I ran it last night, and two of my members decided to payoff the magistrate. Tiny Tim the Cutter, on the other hand, he decided to turn his prison sentence into a score, and assassinated the leader of the Billbooks in the shower with a sharpened bar of soap. He is gonna be in prison for a couple of years, but the group still wants to play him, so any claims ideas would be great.

  5. Prison claims can be things that help the crew on the outside as well as things that make serving time easier / more advantageous. Maybe I’ll put a few in the next update.

  6. Nathan Roberts I was just going to do it as downtime but my Cutter felt if he was going to have to spend time there anyway, he may as well accomplish something.

  7. I Love the idea Nick! We had an element introduced in one of our early playtests that was inspired by the colonial ‘Hulk’ gaols – floating ruins of ex-leviathan hunter ships full of overcrowded prisoners floating on the ink-black harbour
