Before G+ eats itself, I suddenly had some ideas on how to add tactical mini play to Folded Steel (and possibly other Forged in the Dark games). Not sure if this is good or bad.

Do tell.
Don’t tease us so!
The ideas are still pretty rough, and I am currently at work (teacher), so I will most likely keep this short.
So first let me start with purpose. The purpose of expanding the system to include something like a tactical mini system is to place a greater emphasis on fights (and specific types of fights).
Folded Steel deals with big stompy robots, which as a genre is fairly connected to crunchy combat. This means that this will be the point at which the sub system connects with the greater system as a whole.
To Keep things on the leaner end I would default to the use of zones. Components for mechs, would give a range in number of zones they can effect. This would not do much besides establish permissions. Components would also have a weight and mech would have a base speed. The difference would be how many zones the mech could travel without issue.
Still pondering how to blow this out more but not too much. Definitely don’t want to deviate from the core tenants of Fiction First and dice in player hands.
(Sorry if this is a bit disjointed)
Sounds like a promising direction.
