Question re: Ghost possession & vampirism…
From pg.210:
“Vampire. A dead body animated and sustained by a spirit.”
This is the only reference to spirits possessing dead bodies I can find; everything else points to Vampires being created by possessing a living body (incl. a prepared hollow).
Has anyone played with vampires as being possessed corpses?
Has anyone used the idea of a possessed corpse as anything else?
Any and all help would be appreciated.
Personally I always took that to mean that the vampire ritual kills the host hollow body in the process – thus vampires are still a type of undead. There’s this bit under the rules for trauma; “The possessing spirit must either bond with the corpse (becoming a vampire) or abandon it and seek out a new host.” In other words, the spirit drains all life from the host, killing it, and then resurrects the body in vampire form.
I always pictures vampires as requiring a Hollowed body to possess. Can’t control the cadaver if there’s another spirit in there fighting for control.
