  1. This was done in Photoshop Elements (the budget version of Photoshop with limited features, I think it retails about $70?). I took a mirror selfie, used the Posterize filter to block out the colours, then used the Noise -> Median filter to soften the edges of the colour blocks a bit. I used a few adjustment layers to turn it black and white (by taking down the saturation), and increase the contrast. I masked out the back by using the Stamp filter on a cloned version of the original picture to save having to cut around it all. Then I freehand drew the black lines over the top of it using a default brush and the trackpad on my laptop (I’m not fancy enough to have a drawing tablet, sadly). Repeated for the background (which was a random alley from Google images) and the skull (which was mostly there to cover up the phone from the original mirror selfie). Done! Chris Paladino
