I’m planning on using Scum and Villainy for a Star Wars game on Saturday. It will likely be a one off but open to continuation. I was planning on using FFG Edge of the Empire adventures as an inspiration guide. So not placing my players on the railroad adventure but using the locations and NPCs as the setting and potential plot hooks/job ideas.
Is this a crazy idea that will limit my game?
Don’t think so. S&V Rules, EotE for reference material. Sounds good!
As long as you use the adventures as a guide and not a plot, you should be fine. You’ll need to work up a factions sheet, too, and maybe adjust some of the playbooks to be more Star Wars-y.
Also, you’ll need to leave gaps in the Star Wars fiction for the game to fill.
Well the factions sheet I was hoping to leave unless they decide they want this to be more than a one shot. So any downtime stuff I’m leaving out initially. Unless I’ve missed something?
I’m also going to highlight recommended abilities so they avoid downtime ones.
Are you going to do Info Gathering?
I think they will each get one chance to gather info as they have limited time.
I’m currently running a Star Wars game using S&V and it is going quite well. I think the system is a good fit for the setting if you’re willing to do a little work with the Force stuff.
Serf McSerfington Can you tell us what you did with the Force?
Well I ran the session tonight. We all had fun. My brain is fried after trying to think of complications and running without a premade adventure.
I ended up inserting the Procyon sector into the outer rim and simply reskinned a couple of the factions such as the ashen knives being Black Sun.
Used the stardancers starting scenario as the basis. Took a little while for the players to get their heads around the mechanics and how to support one another. The biggest hurdle was getting them past the idea of each person getting to try activities (And they are not even former dnd style players)
All in All, definitely a fun way to do Star Wars. I just need to keep on GMing and get better at improv. It was my second time GMing anything.
Thanks for the tips everyone 🙂
Sounds like you had fun! ^_^
