I’m starting a Scum and Villainy game, and there were a couple things that I wanted to make sure of since I wouldn’t find them on a search of the PDF:

Crew quality starts at 0 and caps at 3, right? I presume this is the case, but all I could tell is that the Crew track has three boxes and starts empty, and I just wanted to make sure.

Also, does upkeep round up or down? Blades rounds up and down for different calculations and a search of the PDF results in no matches for either round up or round down.

Thanks!

  1. Crew quality indeed starts at 0 and caps at 3 for the current ships (as you guessed that’s right on the sheet), unless you pay 2 cred to raise it to 1 in step 3 of ship creation (Customize your ship).

Upkeep rounds down (that should be clarified in 1.7). Most ships should start with 1 cred of upkeep.

Let me know if you have any other Q’s!

  2. Stras Acimovic We just bumped into another question. The Mechanic’s Bailing Wire and Twine ability’s explanation in the book states “The free repairs can’t be ‘saved up’. You get one per downtime.” Does this mean that only their no-downtime repair costs nothing, and if they need to spend multiple actions repairing, they start spending downtime and credits, or does it mean they can’t bank the downtime actions between missions, but every repair costs nothing?

  3. Stras Acimovic Thanks! Another question came up in our first downtime. Blades in the Dark mentioned spending coin or reputation for extra effect on downtime actions, and the ability to involve a friend or contact for another die. I couldn’t find this in S&V. Is this an intentional omission or an oversight?
