I don’t know if anyone wants or need this….but I’ve been hinting in our campaign that Duskvol has building an elevated train system for some time throughout the city. Well…it’s finally active! ( Mostly because I wanted some train heists in the city or some wacky train chase sequences like the car-chase-on-the-rails from Running Scared ).

Anyway, as envisioned, the traincars are double-deckers, with the comforts-of-home “high-society 1st class” passengers on the top, and the low-class riders on the bottom. This is done because the stations themselves are double decked…some stations prevent access of various society-tiers from each other ( well, mostly to prevent lower class riders from invading space in first class ).

This .pdf includes enlarged versions of the map broken in 4 quadrants, with and without the elevated railway. ( we’ve been used an enlarged map in our game ).

  1. Adam Minnie i imagine that, like most infrastructure projects that go into a pre-existing city, the pathway is never a straight line as various people are manipulating the rail lines in their favor (away or towards certain targets, it doesn’t matter). So you wind up with all sorts of Weird nooks and crannies that the rail line within the city bypasses. I’m particularly fond of: the odd 2block cutout in Charhallow, the care that was taken not to throw the tracks through the middle of Central Park in Brightstone, and that the powers-that-be carved out special stations for themselves in the Docks and Charterstone.

There’s also a trick going on within the layout for a story prompt if the players ( and I ) want to follow it up or are desperate for a need of a longer con…a major part of the layout mimics a sigil for a cult that pinpoints a focus for a ritual. Which also explains some of the weird track layout decisions.

    Anyway….

I really like the idea that the farming layout in those areas somewhat mimic the farming circles of today, with a very large radiant light source in the center… And so you wind up with some interesting slalom courses between large dishes of light, instead of simply cutting through a piece of someone’s farm.

  2. Stefan Struck interesting idea.

I can imagine it as a new project of the city counsel that is still under construction, and the emporer himself is expected for the grand opening.

Cabbies and Gondoliers are hating it. Lots of opportunities for sabotage missions and blame shifting.

Construction sides all over the city potentially disturbing a lot of power balances of all kinds.

And who knows what occult mysteries may literally be digged up.

Oh, and there might be a plan to convert a certain old opera building into a station…
