I’m late to this party and signed back into google+ just to ask my question (which seems thematically appropriate, because, just when I thought I was out, you’ve pulled me back in).

But, based on how Action dots are assigned at character gen, it seems like it is possible to have an attribute at zero. If that is correct, how then would a Resistance roll work with that attribute?

Am I missing something profoundly obvious?

  1. Eric’s absolutely right, but this is why I always recommend that people spread those dots out. Having 1 dot in three separate Actions is more valuable than having a 3 in a single Action, for purposes of rounding out Attributes, but also because there are diminishing returns the more dots you load up on a roll.

  2. I’m playing a S&V character right now, who has exactly that: 0 Resolve because he’s just not that social / commanding / attuning guy and I hope that some interesting stories will come from that. Not only will resistance be a topic, but Vice rolls as well. Had an overindulge already when I thought that taking the lowest die will garantue some low result … and then I rolled two 5s, which was cool because of the story. Have to silence the munchkin in me to add a dot there.

  3. Yea, and the point you make also influenced my decision when writing character creation tips for Runners. Basically, I tell them during the step for assigning dots that: having your dots placed into just a few actions is better when you are in control of the situation – or want to be specialized. Spreading them across a variety of actions is better for regaining control when you lose it (or give it away) – besides being more well rounded.
