Hello all!
I’m planning to start an actual play/review podcast for rpg games. There will be guest players from time to time but the core group will be just me and my wife. We’re going to start with Numenera and I was thinking of starting blades in the dark after that.
Has anyone had any experience running it for just one player? Things to look out for?
I am in the same situation but not by choice, and there was a short discussion a few months back about it, but I have not been able to start up yet, so still very much interested in some veterans ideas. Even some official guidelines from the Devs would be great
A single player is going to be absorbing a lot of stress and possibly harm. So don’t be stingy with the coin so they have plenty of resources to recover during downtime.
I can tell you from gming a range of people playjng from blades from just 1 to 8, that the sweet spot for a blades session is 3-4, when you have more or less than that it isn’t as fun. The reason being its a social game, 1-2 is too intimate and 5+ is to much a crowd.
Invite friend over for beers or run it online, do campaign over 5-6 sessions for the best fun.
