Hello! Fun question here:
What would Rorick (and his ghost army) do if he ever came into possession of a ton of Leviathan blood and old refining tank (full of wisky for now)?
My players unleashed a lot of wrathful spirits on a Lampblack cache in crows foot during their first session (going all the way up to wanted 1) and I feel I’m underexploiting it.
Well they’re ghosts so they would want more of their ghost friends to come to town. So of course the natural thing would be to use the blood as a symbolic link in a ritual to summon the Leviathan to come to Doskvol and wreck havoc hopefully tearing down the lightening barriers.
^this
I don’t think that is the whole story though. The Spirit Wardens would be hot on the trail of such activities. Maybe start clocks for something like “Locate Ritual Source” for the Wardens, and “Forge Ritual Link” for Roric. And make rolls during faction turns (and be sure to narrate the progress). The PCs will probably get involved before long to make sure the one they want to happen finishes first.
Or use the blood as the last link for a ritual to transfer all those ghosts into prepared hulls. Mmm… the next questions would be what Roric would to with a hull/drone/battlebots army. Maybe stomp Crows Foot with it?
I think the real story here is about the Badass who was drinking Leviathan Whiskey. You have got to imagine the refining tanks that have contained Leviathan blood and Electroplasm would have residue on them. Whiskey aged in that stuff would probably be able to get a hull drunk with how strong it is.
Hulls? Naw that’s a lot of raw material and work. Rorick has a better idea. He’s gonna use a really old ritual to animate the blood itself to make blood golems that the ghosts can inhabit. Blood golems are way better as they’re able to shapeshift at will and ignore most damage since their body just flows around it.
My players decided it was pretty common to mix drugs and booze to make both eligible and potent.
Their good stuff is a mix of gunpowder and Leviathan blood btw. I love your ideas, keep going!
Colin Fahrion Hulls are only expensive if you don’t have a secret backer who can provide them for free: maybe i little bit of emperial infighting, maybe the Iruvians or what about those strange Tycherosi girls and boys? Having demon blood must be good for something (choose you favorite government faction here)
Did a quick google image search and apparently WoW had a blood golem that looks like it would make a great BitD Leviathan blood powered hullhttps://lh3.googleusercontent.com/5e95NLz6LtdLFjWr4Z261fFEVrNOKpDFTo-08TWg-0_xtHY79LKSZShV3__RHbQUCVOhokM69TpB8KOYMhzSXAl7MvjdTWEgBRU=s0
If you go with the idea that limmers harvested blood the hard and ugly way, back when, and if you go with the idea that those drenched in undying leviathan blood while exposed to the reverberations of the audio-psychic shrieks of the leviathans were forever changed and became the first Whispers, then…
…then it becomes interesting to consider that maybe a properly motivated ghost with a supply of undying blood could gain a measure of control over whispers. Bend them to submit. Compel them to serve. Possibly even burn out their life forces by pushing them to extreme effort.
Whispers, in several ways, serve as doors between the sides of the Mirror. If the undying blood called to that connection and dragged them in, perhaps the Whispers could be made to serve, to make the right conditions for opening the Ghost Field within the barriers protecting the city. If there were enough of them, connected to enough power.
If only the pressure were equalized, an insane mind might reason, there need not be a Mirror at all. Instead of air and water, all could be as fog, intermixed and interliving.
Or, it’s possible the mad ghost of Roric was touched by a thing that has never been, that should not be, but his existence is defined by a destiny–to make the first land-dwelling leviathan.
To that end, ghosts are scouting out where the bones and flesh of the leviathans of the sea can be found in the city, and the undying blood will be wrapped around them, to form a giant undying thing native to walk the land that will change the game forever.
Its worshipers call it Geleia, Many Touches. it is a leviathan whose body mass is mostly tendrils that can expand and contract as needed. Roric worshiped it, and it preserved him in death. He is to bring Whispers to conduct rituals over various flavors of undying blood, so that they tune into her psychic field and become her limbs.
Then they go into the canals, controlled as body parts over distance by her mighty intellect and will. If enough blood becomes her, then she will be able to pull half the docks into the sea as a trophy without getting close enough to the surface for the leviathan hunters to do their work.
Whoa: the thing about Roric being touched is like what one of my players did last session with her demon; a water demon not unlike a leviathan which is seeking dominion on land no less…
Why can’t it be all of these ideas ? :'( I don’t want to chose between blood powered hull and terrestrial zombie Leviathan…
Heng benjamin The good news is you don’t have to pick. Drop a couple clues, and then see what theories your players come up with, and whatever they find most distressing turns out to be true. =)
“That was my plan all along!” you can crow, and you can twirl your mustache in villainous splendor. (Mustache optional.)
