Originally I planned on this being part of a much larger hack project for the city of Lockport, but with John having that on his plans to do (or so I think I’ve seen) I’ve decided to just share this as is.
The idea behind it is a sort of alternative Study-Tinker-character to the Leech, with more of a supernatural kinda edge – think Pierro Joplin from Dishonored. A good example of this is its first ability “Influence From Beyond” – which allows you to take half of your Attune rating and add it to a Tinker roll for making arcane or spark-craft goods. They also have a hull companion in similar fashion to the Hound’s hunting pet, and multiple special abilities that give them access to even more special items.
Spirit Wardens and Spectrologists are a good in-universe touchstone for these fellows. As such, I originally I called these guys just “Spectrologist”s, but after seeing that the name didn’t properly fit in the playbook box I came here for suggestions, and someone (can’t remember who) made a suggestion based on a show they watched (can’t remember which).
As far as the images go: I’m no expert. I did my best to make everything look legit. And yeah, the playbook thing itself is turned sideways, probably should have made it it’s own file but got lazy.
I hope ya’ll enjoy it, and I appreciate any feedback.

Hell yes Squint 😀
Glad to see people liking this! I’ve been getting some feedback on the abilities I agree with and am working on v2ing the Squint. It’ll be some pretty heavy changes, but should be A LOT more interesting to play and a lot less mechanically weird.
Great to hear you are getting lots of feedback. I’ve been looking it over and have to say I really like it. Peer Review needs to be reworked, in my opinion. Maybe tie it into Gathering Information somehow? Otherwise, I like the special abilities. I think you need to add one more though? Each playbook has eight (counting the 2 for the Advanced Hull, you only have seven). I am really looking forward to v2 now!
todd estabrook Yeah, that was a problem I noted when I was reviewing it. REALLY dumb mistake (the fact there’s so much extra room on the playbook shoulda tipped me off XD).
Peer Review? Really? I modeled it after the Slide’s “Like Looking into a mirror”, but I can see how that would be significantly less useful than when actually talkin’ with someone. The idea of adding in a GI element to make it more enticing sounds good, but I’ve already given them a GI ability for the missing 8th (Studious Rigor – Whenever you STUDY in an attempt to gather information, you can push yourself to adjust the dice outcome by 1 level (i.e. from 1-3 to 4/5).)
I was thinking about way to beef it up at one point, though – didn’t come across anyway, but I’ll give it another go.
Thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier! (You gain an additional xp trigger: You sought to discover the truth where you found deceit. If your crew helped you find the truth, also mark crew xp.)
