I wouldn’t recommend PbP for Blades, tbh. The game expects a lot of back-and-forth when taking actions.
Adam Bloom no other way I’m going to get to play :/
There are a few games going on myth-weavers.
That said, Adam has kinda the right of it. PBP will slow things way down for that back-and-forth, or you get players that race ahead and the GM has to either rewind a lot or just accept what they do.
I keep wondering about this exact thing. Are there good ways to play a BitD style game with an asynchronous and/or non-local crew? Is there a solid way to do it with Google Docs? or OneNote?
I haven’t paid enough attention to the pbp rpgs in years and have no idea what kind of advances tech has brought them.
I’m currently playing a Sprawl game via hangouts + google docs, and it’s definitely a huge step up over the old forum posts. Live document editing, comment tracking, ongoing chat stream, option for face-to-face, etc. it’s so superior that, at this point, I consider playing by forum to be a non-starter.
We’re doing a PbP at the moment on Tavern Keeper. It definitely has issues with pacing and isn’t the ideal way to play Blades, but we’ve found some work arounds for some of the obvious issues. It sounds like you’re in the same situation as me where you either do PbP or can’t play at all, so I’d say give it a go.
we’re using roll20 for sheets and visuals, and discord for voice. Its working great so far!
You’re welcome to join us on Tavern-Keeper, J Stein. We’re a few posts off starting a new score but if you get there quickly you can join in with the score!
Yeah, jump on in if you like. 🙂
Jason Lee Marcus Shepherd that would be great – thank you
I went ahead and registered at TK. How do I look your group up?
Didja try the link I sent with my last message? At any rate the game is
called ‘Baker’s Breakers’. I don’t think there’s a search function but
we’re probably one of the more active games on TK at the moment. So just
‘Browse Campaigns’ or whatever it’s called now.
Marcus Shepherd For some reason, no link came through? But I found you guys on the TK site, and applied to join the game. Thank you!
