Damn, U’Duasha is freakin’ awesome!

Damn, U’Duasha is freakin’ awesome! I finally got around to reading it and love it. It feels so exotic while keeping the feel of Blades. John’s writing (as well as anyone else who pitched in) brought every facet to life in my mind (love the Gualim!). I will definitely have to give the crew a reason to travel there!

  1. It really is quite awesome. It has already inspired me to do ridiculous stuff. I’ve started working on writing out a city for the Dagger Isles (even though it doesn’t have a city in the canon) because it is the continent that fascinates me the most. It likely won’t amount to anything, but it’s just so much fun to think about!

  2. I’ve already started incorporating material. Some of my crew came across a bronze scarab that Kamali immediately recognized as the symbol of House Anixis. It was radiating arcane energy and attempted to take over their minds.

  3. Sean Nittner I upped my pledge via Backerkit, and don’t see a Special Edition PDF in the digital rewards.

Is it waiting for payment when the backerkit editing period ends? Or is something amiss?

  4. Now I’m hungry to see all the other cities in the world getting a similar treatment…maybe even an ‘around the isles in 80 days’ sort of campaign in the offing…

  5. Same here, I upped my pledge to Tinkerer, and still have only acces to the standard edition link. I did it mostly for the edition files, but if I understood it correctly U’Duasha is also avaliable at that level.

I plan to eventually buy the Pod version of the book… That one will be the standard edition, right? U’Duasha wont be part of it?

  6. Ziv Wities and Alfredo Tarancón, sorry for the delay, I needed a chance to checked the Kickstarter and BackerKit levels. The U’Duasha content come with the Hardcase level and above. If you’d like both the source files and the special edition content that is included with the Hacker level.

  7. Sean Nittner Thanks for looking into that 🙂

My recollection was that Tinkerer supporters would expect to get U’Duasha as well – in the context of getting all the source files. I don’t recall where this was stated, or if it was official, though.

  8. Sean Nittner John Harper stated in update 12 (12th of March 2015) that “The Tinkerer reward DOES include the digital content from the Special Edition of the game, namely the extra city guide for U’Duasha.”

The Kickstarter reward chart says otherwise, but that is an error!

The idea is to provide the additional content to overseas backers who shy away from large shipping costs.

  9. Thanks for catching that Ziv Wities and Jörg Mintel. We’re going to adjust BackerKit but in the meantime if you’d like to email me (seannittner at gmail), I’ll send you a download link now.

  10. At this point I’ve purchased both the pre-order from DTRPG and subsequently the hardcover special edition via backerkit just to get du’asha. Out of curiousity – is there any material I’m missing out on, and do I need to buy this game a third time to get it?

  11. J Stein There’s a whole bunch of stretch goal content for the original Kickstarter campaign. It seems like different creators are going to be publishing those pieces in different venues — Stras Acimovic’s Scum & Villiany has an early edition on Drivethru RPG, whereas Sean Nittner’s Vigilantes add-on is free on his site.

So it looks like there will remain cool stuff for you to spend cash on, and plentiful cool new stuff both for sale and for free 🙂

(As for U’Duasha, I believe John said it will also be available in PDF form, at some point, if that’s really the only reason you’re getting the hardcover. OTOH, this is definitely a game I want to have the physical book for…)
