#Roll20

Hi folks, I’ve been producing assets for Roll20 marketplace as a side-hobby and I’ve recently been loving playing/running Blades in the Dark. Recently the marketplace has expanded into “Addons”, which allows things like rollable tables to be setup and purchased. I’ve since been working hard on creating a fancy version of the clocks used in the system. I’d like to keep my set to-the-point but the minimal price tag on a marketplace product is $5. Do you guys think you’d be excited to have this bit of eye-candy or is there some material I could pad the package with to make it that much sweeter?

  1. My goodness those are stunning! I think they’re worth $5 because they feel like a luxury splurge.

If you’re looking for more blades accessories to do, maybe a fancy turf sheet? One that looks like a victorian shopfront window and each pane lights up when the crew grabs it? I’d pay for that.

  2. Holy hell that’s pretty. I don’t usually buy marketplace stuff, but I’d pick these up. If you have a few genres of these (I know I’ll be running S&V and wouldn’t mind some with a Sci-Fi twist, maybe circuit or star patterns) that would definitely be great for a product or padding.

  3. Ages ago I set up something similar (with much less beautiful tokens) so I could write a script that would update the image on a clock token according to a value in the token.

Not sure if your clocks have something like that, but if they’re stored in a rollable table, they should be compatible with that script.

If you’re an artist and not a programmer and want a copy of said script, let me know. I’d be happy to help you add that functionality if I can.

  4. Thanks for the offer, Dylan. I’m not wowed by the UI around rollable tables, so I wish I could setup some API with these, but as I’m currently going to attempt to add these as an Addon in the marketplace, which doesn’t allow scripts, so it’ll have to wait I think. There’s probably an argument to release these as part of a full module build, which would then work I guess, but I think it’d be annoying to people in a current game to remake with the purchased module as the base.

  5. These look great! My original gaming group was in New Jersey. I’ve been in Portland, Oregon for two years and have looked into virtual tabletop for satellite gaming. I’m actually a Publisher member of Tabletopia and have used it for private RPG gaming. I just digitized the entire Duskwall map for a full tabletop in 3d space with miniature pawns to show tactical movement.

What I wanted to add was image counters to use as clocks, but haven’t put together the imagery for them. I’d purchase your clocks for import as objects into my private Tabletopia setups in a heartbeat is the images were available to purchase for download!

  6. Greg Krywusha Are you looking for local gamers? There is an amazing story-gaming group in portland – large, well organized and incredibly welcoming. People there have run blades at least a couple of time since the KS first ended.

  7. David Harrison I might consider it. After gaming for 25+ years with a solid group of your own, it’s hard to consider “making new friends”. I honestly haven’t been as proactive on this as I should be… thinking originally that Portland might be temporary. I’ve visited a few game stores in the area. One of them was just a child dropoff for MTG, unfortunately.
