Question about the Entanglement “Interrogation”:
If a crew has a wanted level and gets Interrogation, what happens to the person being interrogated? Do they get arrested after they grill him? It seems odd that theyd let a wanted criminal go. Is Interrogation appropriate for a crew with a wanted level?
Maybe if the Bluecoats, Inspectors, or some other group has strong evidence tying the PC to a crime, it might make sense for them to take the PC to trial, or just throw them into Ironhook. (Cue dramatic prisoner rescue scene?)
But the PC can choose to resist telling them anything, and even if they do talk, the information might not be good enough as evidence. Or maybe it’s the corruption of the Bluecoats in action, or something else entirely. So generally I’d say that unless there’s a clock working against the crew like “The Inspectors are Building a Case,” it’s reasonable that they’d be let go.
They want the crew, not just you (most likely), and are grabbing your people to get the harshest penalty they can, building a case. They’re pressing you for information on your operation (or other crews). They’re playing the long game. They know you’re scum, they just can’t make it stick…yet.
It’s worth noting that entanglements are more likely to be severe regardless of your heat (Wanted level is the dice pool now). Also don’t forget they beat the PC up and they get their info if they aren’t paid. I say if the player manages to resist both consequences of not paying, they earned it and the Bluecoats get zilch.
If you really want to up the difficulty slider due to being Wanted though, EDIT: the easiest way might be to use the more severe heat column when the crew is Wanted, and use the highest one when the crew is extra Wanted.
or the Bluecoats could want more coin to leave the PC alone, or they beat the PC within an inch of their life (level 3 harm instead of level 2) and/or they suffer more heat for refusin. And there is also the “GM chooses an entanglement” option.
A wee tangent, but can you imagine the utter shitstorm if the law starts severely beating a demon-bound within an inch of their life? Suddenly, there are screams, shattering glass and splintering wood…the sound of wet meat hitting tile…gurgled pleas for mercy…the last thing the demon-bound hears before they black out is a raspy chittering and their dark friend feeding again…and again…and again…
Edited my comment. Thought of a way more elegant option.
