So Evil Hat says that the Blades pdf will go public in a week (if I get em right) and I have not seen any update on the Kickstarter yet…

I guess we will get it about an hour before the public, based on previous Evil Hat releases
Kickstarter update coming this week, but here’s the skinny.
1/30 (maybe at the same time, maybe staggered, just depends on how well we get our ducks in a row):
KS update with a link to the BackerKit where you can buy or claim your physical copies and get a PDF download.
Blades in the Dark Pre-order opens up on EHP website and a new site John is hosting, both will point to the BackerKit pre-order where folks can pre-order the print copy (which will also come with a PDF).
And if you bought on Drive Thru RPG?
The Drive Thru digital early access will also get the PDF on 1/30 and can pre-order the print edition through BackerKit.
And promissed DriveThru prints? Or other convenient method to avoid ridiculous overseas shipping? But this is probably a question to John Harper 😉
As I understand it, there are 2 print versions: the standard print edition and a KS special edition. If all the pre-orders are going through BackerKit who is eligible for the special edition? It is just for those that backed the KS or can anyone that pre-orders get the special edition?
Paul Byford If you backed at Hardcase level (or any other that includes a special edition) then one will be on your BackerKit order automatically (at no charge except shipping since you already paid for it). If you backed at a lower level, or weren’t a backer this will be another opportunity to buy a special edition (which won’t be available after the BackerKit campaign) and/or buy the standard edition.
Ezekiah Raven, for the reasons of print quality we’re doing as much of the fulfillment as possible through BackerKit (as all of those orders will fulfilled with a conventional printer rather than POD) but for folks who want to order a POD copy through DriveThru (as the Kickstarter campaign offered) we’ll be setting that up as well, just not sure we’ll have it up by 1/30.
Sean Nittner thanks for the clarification. I’m in at one of the higher tiers myself but know a number of people who are interested in the Blades books. I suspect that the cost of shipping to the UK will be too much for most of them though. I’m planning on getting my FLGS to order copies through the distribution channels.
Paul Byford. Yes, that would be great. If they aren’t familiar with Evil Hat, here is the link to our distributors (US and Worldwide) and other retailer information: http://www.evilhat.com/home/for-retailers/
Sean Nittner so there will be an option to get a non POD copy through the worldwide distributors net (EU here), paying only the shipping cost as a backer?
Ezekiah Raven, yep, you’ll be able to get it either way. Personally I suggest getting it through BackerKit because the print quality will be much better (Blades really needs that rich black saturation) but we know the POD has less expensive international shipping since they print locally (or semi-locally).
Sean Nittner my FLGS has Dresden Files books on the shelves and I’ve seen fate dice too, so I don’t think it will be a problem 🙂 Besides they are very good at getting produces that people are interested in, even when it’s a struggle to get things through distribution channels. I will talk to them on Thursday when I go there for my weekly gaming night.
Sounds good!
