Due some recent events I am not so much in the mood for heist/rogue games at the moment but would like to playtest some ideas I ahve for my Wilderness Hack. Any one interested to join?

I would finish this hack somewhat next month and start going to playtest via hangout. You can sign in here.

Happy Holiday Season to you all!

  1. Nope, no problem.

But I am GMT-1 Timezone and prefer Sundays for playtest.

Around 1-2 PM New York City Time

    You can choose:

    Sellsword (Merchenary)

    Loreseeker (Ressearcher/Mystic)

    Shadecloak (Rogue)

Magistrate (Cleric & Medic, no magic)

    Later Options planed:

    Artificer (Smith, Clockwork, Gear, Traps)

    Conquestor (Tank, Explorer, Fighter)

    Gunhound (Long Range, hunter, ranger)

    Courtier (Slide, Bard)

  2. Those times sound very good for me (almost ideal)! I am unsure what character option I would pick until I see a little more, but I like all of those options (except probably magistrate).

  3. We have an expedition financed by a council of nobles and scholars into a dreadfull deadland/wasteland. You have to keep the Sages and the expedition leader alive while hoarding riches.

Actually you can play the expedition leaders yoursel or an independent group of looters. Your choise.

  4. Cornerstones of the Playtest:

    – Magic is a mysterious and rare power, mostly forbidden and feared. Gaining magic knowledge/abilities is very Dangerous and can lead to physical and mental corruption and mutation. (warhammer style chaos)

    – Demons and Undead are known enemies, shrouded in mysteries and legends and supersttious lore. They are not cannon fodder but more like cosmic horrors a la Lovecraftian Lore

    – Society is on the brink of the industrial age, still you start in a backwater kingdom and gunpowder weapons are still rare. (LotFP)

    – Goal of the characters is to gain enough riches to be able to retire to a decent life / explore ancient places / build up reputation for their expedition company / Survival

    – Players receive a Trophies sheet. From game to game, character death to deaths, you can earn trophies with your participation, which giving you boni on creation of new characters (more starting gear / inheriting olg gear / more coin to start / blessings / Patrons / Stats boni / special skills / special items / curses / etc

    – Serving the Gods as Magistrate, gives a defacto power over the population, who are ruled by the Theocratic Goverment. Gaining the right tools and lores, you can access the gods gifts in Exchange for dreadful pacts.

  5. Magistrates sound interesting to me actually. Always liked clerics. You’ve got obvious motivations and people usually come to you with problems that need to be fixed (broken arms, broken hearts, moral dilemmas)

  6. Stras Acimovic the sheet is nearly done. You can spend 4 dots on the compass (3 total max per Attribute) and 3 points on background and abilities.

If you like you could even spend 3 points on a super weapon. Or 3 abilities.

  7. Will this be available to watch later? I would love to. Sadly, I have Really Real World gaming that day. For what it’s worth, the premise sounds amazing and an Inquisitor does, too.

  8. If there is still any spots for Sunday playtesting, I’d be incredibly interested in helping out. This theme is really exciting and I finally have enough time to get back into gaming. Though this Sunday I couldn’t help (yay New Year’s Day stuff).

  9. Stras Acimovic , I don’t even have a computer, I use an iPad! 🙂 My career has nothing to do with computers beyond our timesheet and the AWFUL training each year, so I’m waaaay behind on quite a bit, from lack of need, honestly. That will change soon, though. I really want to do some gaming with far-away friends and Blades has inspired me to learn the stuff needed to create hacks and the like. I see all these incredible things you all create and it makes me want to take a stab at it, too.

  10. I’d like that, maybe. Might be sort of abrupt to be like HIEVERYONENICETOMEETYOUFORTHEFIRSTTIMEBUTENOUGHOFTHATWHAT’SYOURBELIEFSDRIVESHERITAGEBACKGROUNDVICETRAUMA

  11. I think I should be able to make it tomorrow if we want to do some introductions and small things. I am in a weird timezone (on vacation atm) so I might be a little late though.

  12. Vandel J. Arden how did this turn out?

I’ve been gathering material for a hack about explorers and strange expeditions (along the lines of Journey to the Center of the Earth, Disney’s Atlantis and The Lost City of Z) for a few weeks and I only just thought to look if someone had already done something similar.

  13. Renaud van Strydonck Since Vandel might be busy or missed the message and I just saw it, I guess I will give you an answer :p

We had a couple issues playtesting it. Although the campaign was really fun for some of us that got a chance to playtest and the mechanics seemed good, situations prevented us from testing it fully.
