Question: How do vampire special abilities work?

Example: A vampire PC uses Terrible Power! Stress spent. At that point, does the narrative description happen, or is a appropriate skill rolled (and the use of terrible power allows it to be rolled where a human could otherwise not have been able to do said roll at all)

Example 2: Arcane Sight is used! does this just happen, or is an appropriate skill roll again paired with it.

Example 3: Void Echo is used! Does the vampire have to roll prowl, or does the super stealth just happen?

Answer would be most appreciated.

  1. The general rule for rolling (or not) always applies. If there’s a dangerous or troublesome obstacle, you make an action roll. If not, you don’t.

Often, the activation of a Vampire ability will mean that a troublesome obstacle is no longer troublesome, so you don’t need to make an action roll*. But you have to judge it case by case, as usual.

(* You might still make a fortune roll, if you’re not sure ‘how much’ a given maneuver accomplishes.)
