#CopperheadCounty  playbooks, factions, & extras:

Welp, its been a while since I posted an update about Copperhead County, my modern-southern-crime Blades hack. I’ve been hard at work, and to make up for it, here are a couple of updates.

Status: Pretty good! I ran a seven-session Season 1 which saw our crew of Hellraisers rise to tier 1, run drugs and vice, burn down several buildings, gain a Wanted Level, and surrender a war with a biker gang whose boot they currently squirm underneath. We’ve been on hiatus, but Season 2 will start next Thursday. I’m focusing on finishing crew material and finishing setting writing. I thought I was done with crew material, but after Season 1 I wasn’t really satisfied, so I’m going to be testing out some new stuff I’m excited about. If it works I’ll post crews sometime.

Playbooks: These have undergone constant revision since the game started through today, and I feel pretty solid about them now. Have a gander:

Factions & Extras: I posted a first run of factions a while ago, but these are revised and perhaps complete. I also have writeups for the criminal factions, which need a little more work but are there. There’s also a Quickstart scenario and a map!

  1. Looks nice! So this could work for say Sons of Anarchy?

I’m also working on a more modern hack, so I like to see how you made some decisions and especially your item descriptions regarding gear.

I’m a big fan of the xp trigger: “You made a difference in situations outside of your expertise.”

As two minor points of correction:

—the gas can description says it can be a handy inflammable. At first I thought you mistyped that gas itself could be a handy “flammable” but now I’m wondering if you meant the can itself could be handy by being inflammable. If the latter, it may be a bit confusing as written.

—Did you see that the “Gather info” questions at the bottom of the playbooks changed? Now they’re more tailored to each playbook and don’t include asking about details for a plan.

  2. Adam Minnie Sons of Anarchy is a good model. I used to have it listed as a touchstone, but I’ve only seen the first two seasons. You could do a Hellraisers crew (kind of Breakers-esque) and all have motorcycles and be a biker gang. My PCs leaned hard into the inter-faction game (including starting a war with the big biker gang) and that’s very SoA. It sounds like I should add it back.

I love that xp trigger. I added it early in our game and it works well.

    Thanks for the kind words!
