My cult just took the perk that allows their deity to appear in the real world on occasion. They are very excited to see what the god of mischief and chaos they worship will do now that it has the ability to directly interact with mortals. I imagine this as something along the lines of American Gods where there is a human manifestation and maybe a different more godly form that is only revealed when viewed in a deities realm or maybe some sort of cool device like ghost goggles or something. Has anyone had to do this in their campaign yet? I’m curious what other approaches to godly representation there could be.

I’ve not done it. But I would go a similar route to the Ascended in the Malazan books. Supply a magic item, bring someone back from the dead, turn up for occasional fight or possess someone for clandestine work. The thing is, even gods have rivals and factions, and there may be other gods also able to manifest.
Maybe they pioneer a glyph in undying leviathan blood that is carved into one or more gang members as an advance or long term project that lets them surrender in a ritual and become an avatar so the god can walk among them.
I have a feeling a draconequus might be thematically inappropriate, right?
The God of Mischief and Chaos surely has lots of interesting possibilities. He could show up in the form of an NPC that the players have previously interacted with (or even a PC) and act just slightly out of character to cause confusion, arguments or misunderstandings. You can’t be the God of Mischief and Chaos if you’re predictable, and surely your worshippers would feel honoured and blessed to have you use your valuable time and power to mess with them. 😉
I interpreted the “gods” to be fairly Lovecraftian. Like, “the priorities and values of a god are not those of mortals” = “stay out of reach of the tentacles.”
