I crazily remember a time when you could use playbook advances to increase action ratings.

I crazily remember a time when you could use playbook advances to increase action ratings. Am I making this up? was it phased out?

I had a second question that has escaped me. Psyched for my BitD session, I’m sure the question will return mid session.

  1. Nope, that’s not a thing… though in 7.1, when you mark XP at the end of the session, you can mark it in your playbook or in any attribute. So you can advance actions that way.

  2. So xp for methods and trauma (these are xp we mark in session) are playbook advances, and Drives/heritage and vice/weakness are wildcard advances? (these are xp we mark at the end of session.)

I know vice and trauma probably shouldn’t be split apart. We’ve really extrapolated on the drives, beliefs and vice angle, based off what the character sheets say.

  3. No, 7.1 is different. This is what it says (on the Cutter playbook):

    ——————–

Every time you roll a desperate action, mark xp in that action’s attribute.

At the end of each session, for each item below, mark 1 xp (in your playbook or an attribute) or 2xp if that item occurred multiple times.

    – You addressed a challenge with threats or violence.

    – You expressed your beliefs, drives, heritage, or background.

    – You struggled with issues from your vice or traumas during the session.

  4. Oh okay. The trauma rules make it seem like the xp they award happens mid session.

I remembered my second question! Can the hunting grounds be away from the lair? My hawkers crew is set up in Crow’s foot, but fictionally we’ve established that their clientele is mostly Brightstone citizens. I didn’t know if there was some importance to the hunting grounds including the lair in their area.

  5. Oh, hey, tangentially related John Harper – is there a reason the training categories on the crew sheet are “Insight”, “Prowess”, “Resolve” and “Personal” when the XP tracks on the character sheets are “Insight”, “Prowess”, “Resolve” and “Playbook”

  6. Aaron Berger Yep, the hunting ground can be away from the lair.

Mike Pureka Hmmm… I probably had some reason, but it seems silly now. Might as well just say Playbook.
