Any inspiration (links, pictures) how the Bluecoats look like? I’m not happy with the classical Englisch Bobby, even in the early version (top hats instead of the modern helmets). In my opionen they should have an official headgear but it should be more brutal/vicious looking. All searches on pinterest and google came up empty, so if one of you have a picture to share I will be grateful.

The usual thoughts for the design are that after a successful war a military would often ape the uniforms of the successful power. The British Home Service helmet looks a lot like the German helmet of the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870’s.
Something more sinister might be a stormtrooper helmet of the Great War paired with a gas mask ala Darth Vader.
You might want to look at the city watch in the Dishonored video game.

It’s an old leather football/rugby helmet. I imagine the Duskvol City Watch version as dark gray or black, with silver or gold ornamentation for ranking officers.
Lots of advantages to putting Bluecoats in masks. Disguise implications are obvious, but it also means you don’t know who you’re fighting until they rip off the mask for the reveal (possibly while bleeding out). Bluecoats not actively expecting danger — just standing around chewing the fat, having a smoke, out on a leisurely “patrol” — probably have their helmets off, leading to a lot of fun head-shot opportunities.

Alternatively – you could have them like the Militia in New Crobuzon under Mayor Rudgutter – that is every officer is undercover while on duty. When they become official and arrest someone – that’s when they pull hidden masks over their heads. Thus creating paranoia and fear of authority as well.
I quite like the uniform of the guards/soldiers from Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Set in Paris, with the blue uniform, so it fits with “Bluecoats”

Regarding the color I don’t really mind: A convert all the pictures to black/white and apply a PS filter (the secret of making them all look the same even when they were orginally from different sources). I like the hats! Not what I had in mind, but cool nevertheless. Thanks!
