I was wondering if the Blades system would work for wuxia.

I was wondering if the Blades system would work for wuxia. Is it “robust” enough to handle secret techniques and the like? My experience is sadly close to nothing, other than reading, so I was curious if somebody’s had this idea.

  1. Blades already does secret techniques, though, right? All that stuff towards the back of the quickstart about different styles of Iruvian swordsmanship, becoming a cultist, and all that?

    I don’t think the obstacles between Blades and a Wuxia hack has anything to do with secret techniques — I think it would need to be a very particular kung fu game that bolts onto the Adventuring Party thing the game already has going on. Could work with the right set-up.

  2. I agree with Alfred Rudzki – techniques and whatnot aren’t really an obstacle, but I don’t think the high level assumptions of Blades fit very well with the wuxia genre.
