It’s not completely clear to me if the clause “In addition, each PC gets 1 COIN (+2 per crew TIER)…” is triggered as part of the “At the end of each session” activities, or only when the crew actually advances (i.e. when you mark 8 crew advancement ticks). To me, the bonus COIN appears to be part of the effects of levelling up the crew, but some of the other players in my group read it the other way.

  1. I always find it a little funny when players interpret the rules in the way that’s most advantageous to them. It’s understandable though.

It’s only when the “Crew Advances.”

If you’d like to provide justification to your players for how this is the case, tell them that if it was meant to be at the end of each session, it would be a bulleted point as well. Because it’s not, that means it’s separate.

  2. I agree, but stylistically it’s inconsistent. If you’re going to bullet-list “At the end of each session:” you should bullet-list “When you mark 8 advancement ticks:” too.

  3. Well in this case it was actually the GM who had the initial reading where “in addition” binds to “at the end of each session” rather than “When you mark 8 crew advancement ticks”, rather than greedy players 🙂

I do think it’s genuinely ambiguous.
