Player Handouts: City Districts
Here’s an example of how I’m adapting content in the book into handouts that are usable at the game table.

Question: Is it more useful to have the descriptive stuff from the book on these pages, or would you prefer to have more blank space to write your own notes?

If the descriptive stuff is still in the book for the GM to see, I would say more blanks on the handouts. Then you can choose what to reveal as the story unfolds.
Descriptive stuff, you can always use post it notes for annotations.
Seems like there is some semi-dead space on both pages, especially around the top left and right. Might be good to have some callouts for notes.
Chris Bennett It depends on the map section and the artwork for a given district. Some of them have content in those spots.
I like the description there as well.
I like description. Index cards are better for notes anyway. And there is honestly plenty of space for marking on the maps or buildings if one needs to.
Description, definitely.
I’d prefer space to write my own notes, but best would be a bit of both (I realise that might not be, you know, possible).
Both space for notes and description.
Depends, I’m afraid. I’d prefer simpler descriptions and more blanks on page one, but page 2 is just right for me.
Descriptive stuff, definitely. If I want space for notes, I can cut the descriptions and print just the map.
Post-its. Solved.
I’d go with description. Most characters have lived their entire lives in this city – it would be odd that they didn’t have basic knowledge of most of it.
Description all the way. Means the players can consult the info at their relative leisure, without having to thumb through the book.
Would it be possible to have two versions? One with description and one with blanks to note things developed during play?
I like the descriptions. Maybe blank versions online as downloads, or extra pages in the PDF version?
I think descriptions as well.
Since we don’t actually use battle maps, I think the maps are inspirational, but of limited use: gauging clock size due to distance between locations and drawing in turf boundaries and claims. For these uses I’d prefer as little clutter as possible.
I like maps. I also think this is just enough description, I think 2-4 locations detailed this much per district is a plan in order to leave plenty of blanks. I’d also literally include blanks as well.
Love the style – agree with Vasco & Glen on the details.
I like maps, I like the descriptions, but it would be really nice to have room for notes.
Hmmmm, I’m going to have to see the handouts for every district before I decide… ;}
Thanks for the feedback. For now, I’ll put the descriptions on a separate PDF layer that you can turn on and off.
The more info on the sheets the better. Paint the picture. Notes go in notebooks. Looks real good, btw.
