Runners in the Shadows received a slew of updates since I last shared this. I am happy with most of it. Recently changed, for example, are the playbooks which were not very versatile before (I found archetypes like Hacker or Street Samurai to be a bit too specific to generate much variety in the abilities). And since archetypes in Shadowrun never were the end-all-be-all, I stuck with the more flexible, Blades style of playbook naming.

One thing on my mind is what would be a good equivalent to turf and hunting grounds for Shadowrunners. My first thought is: these things are pretty much the same, just near-future context. However, I think a smarter option is out there.

Changelist..

* New Abilities: Technomancy, Adept, Rigger, many more

* Cyberware

* Random Playbook Bonds

* Damaged Goods (starting with Trauma)

* Hacking simplified

* Metatype abilities and heritage notes

* Hong Kong factions list

* Map of Hong Kong and details for campaign play

* Situation: Hong Kong Island war

Feedback and discussion welcomed

  1. I like the idea of Ecowarriors; a semi-heroic terrorist group sounds like a fitting addition. Down with the megacorps!

    So far, I am at a “Maybe” on the Tribe as a crew of Shadowrunners. Like I could see a Tribe as in ork tribe, but soemthing like that could use any of the playbooks depending on their type of criming. And a crew with a shared spiritual belief sounds rather Cult-y. Either way, I wonder how to use it in a way that isn’t covered by beliefs or heritage..

  2. Thanks Adam Schwaninger

    Though I must give credit to The Sprawl for spawning the idea of hooking them in early on their cyberware like that.

    The way my newest playtester is using it (Genius with a penchant for hacking), is her commlink and datajack are “owned” by a robotics firm, Fulcrum Technologies (now Tier 4 because too much criming makes full-authority police robots a reality). Both items were put in cleanly, with good quality install kits. However, the cyberware also works how They want; so Fulcrum could shut her head computer down if she faced them, and I supposed they must have a way to track the use of those devices as well. So, one thing led to another, and a long term clock for “Fulcrum catches up with you” exists now, and ticks for that sometimes become the subject of resistance rolls after failed hacks (even over things like Harm). Fun stuff
