How do you guys translate Hunting Grounds for Hawkers? We were trying to work in out in our game and came up with two scenarios:
(Keep in mind we sell drugs)
1) social engagement: selling alchemicals at a “rave” or noble soirĂ©e
2) transport: slinging in the streets you control
Thoughts? Suggestions? Corrections?
Certain areas can get known for certain illicit services. Possibly the bluecoats turn a blind eye to those coming and going to that street?
Watch The Wire. Plenty of ideas.
I was asking more mechanically, not in the fiction.
Nick Camacho The features of scores undertaken in hunting grounds: they don’t affect other faction relations, and they do not generate Rep (because none of the factions care what is happening there)
Which, I understand it as mostly a fictional benefit, but this tends to translate into a mechanical one as well (since no news can be good news for a crew in the case of fallout from a score- especially in those times the crew just needs some scratch for the next important job).
Thanks! So I kind of sounds like either a ward boss or the authorities just give you an area to do your illicit deeds? Would you call this a downtime action with a fortune roll or something you’d roleplay? Is it a score?
The ward boss of the district where the hunting ground exists has given permission to the crew (most likely one in Crow’s Foot, through Lyssa). See initial hunting ground, pg. 42 (v6).
If you skipped that, I think finding out if they can gain access might be an interaction with her, decided with a fortune roll using the action they describe to set that up. Of course, the hunting ground itself could be worth a score to Lyssa if the players described being a barely-formed crew.
The time I would use a fortune roll for the hunting grounds is during the engagement roll for scores there. Roll its quality
My idea was that your crew could use food carts as a means to distribute your illicit goods. So your territory would be something like “Oak Street Vendors” or something like that.
Thanks! Just wasn’t sure if it translated Hawkers like the text said on pg. 42
