Vice levels. Guys some help please. Every character starts off with a Vice level of 1, but how/why does this stat get to increase? It’s probably me, but I see nothing in the rules that effects a players Vice rating, so how does this work. Thanks.

  1. Err not sure what you mean. Vice is just ย the Vice that you indulge in during Downtime to remove Stress. It doesn’t fluctuate in value in v6 of the QS as far as I can see.

  2. Right I think I see the issue now. Because I started running Blades when V3 came out and thus my players have V3 character sheets, I now see that the 4 available dots for Vice (which are used as part of the downtime calculation factors)has been done away with. Presumably this means Vice is always calculated at 1 and no longer fluctuates.

  3. Take your point, but with so many changes, amendments and ‘extras’ I didn’t want to start confusing people mid campaign. Apart from this 1 issue we have settled down with the earlier version which works fine if you just want to play a crew of Thieves and IMHO generally reads better than some of the later versions when you are approaching the rules for the first time.

  4. Anthony Hyland eh, it’s fine if you don’t want to update, but if so, then you should really not update, otherwise, you’re just going to keep running into confusion like this.

I would also dispute “reads better” – that just comes out sounding weird.

  5. I started running when v5 came out, so I didn’t read the earlier versions as closely. I think when John took out Vice level it was replaced functionally with how many Traumas a character had (for purposes of inflicting Stress do neglecting your Vice).

  6. It’s not that I don’t want to update. It just makes sense not to do it mid campaign in my opinion.

On the issue of reads better. Pretty much depends on ones point of view. I haven’t really had a need to look in detail at V6 as yet, but V3.3 came across as more understandable than V5 which was somewhat disjointed in the Beta, and that was the opinion of several of my players when we looked at it. So I guess those of us with academic qualifications in the English Language must all be weird then by your criteria ๐Ÿ˜œ

  7. Anthony Hyland Well yeah. ๐Ÿ˜›

But again. I understand “I don’t want to update midstream” but if you don’t want to update midstream, don’t update midstream.ย  Don’t like, keep using old character sheets and try to reconcile them with new rules. o.o
