Game of 2015 (sic!)… Kind of weird because the game is not even out yet. That says a lot about this so called “awards”.
So cool.
Another sign that the crew/community that has formed up around this deserving game is a high tier one indeed.
Is it fair to award GoTY to a game that hasn’t been released yet? What if the final product bears little resemblance to the beta copy that won?
Yes, well done John! 🙂
David Benson It’s the same situation with a 1st edition of a game that wins and then gets a 2nd edition. The edition that wins is the edition that wins. You don’t win an award in perpetuity.
In this case, that means Blades in the Dark early access (v6) is the winner. It’s a complete, playable RPG, so it’s eligible for the award.
To say “it’s not released” isn’t true. The game is currently available for sale and playable as is. What’s true is that the hardcover special edition isn’t finished. But the hardcover special edition didn’t win the award.
Anyway, thanks for voting! This is award is a popularity contest on BGG, and it’s amazing to see all the support for Blades over there.
Well, the Print & Play version of Dungeon Solitaire: Labyrinth of Souls was also nominated and I am still drawing the cards. But its nice to see it at least got nominated. And John’s QS was playable right from the start, I dont see any problem here.
