Thought of an idea – how to make it worthwhile for the players to stashing gold (other than roleplaying purposes).
So! If player ended the game with 0 – 10 stash. It’s just it – he is as good as dead. Maybe if he stashed some money, the kind MC can allow him to contact the rest of the gang one more time and give them some sort of information (like a contact only he knew or something like this)
11-20 Stash. The character can leave some of the unique stuff he aquired during play to the next character his player creates. I’m not talking about equipment on the list, but maybe some artifact he stole a while ago and decided not to sell. Or some cool customized weapon he bought not so long ago.
Stash 21-39. The character got some sort of buisness, that can act as an asset or even turf for the crew. The player must describe it.
Stash 40: The player can not only add some turf to the crew, but also add up some followers to their gang, give them some rep or upgrade their hideout.
What do you think, guys?
I really like the idea of improving the gang by retired members giving it their patronage.
One idea I had, now this is entirely on a very preliminary look at the rules. Is your stash continuing toward your next character in some way. Sort of like Agon.
That’s a cool idea, makes your crew want to take care of their veterans, builds a nice history. It would also open up a new branch of repercussions, where old colleagues (and thus the crew’s foundations) are targeted.
A.J. van Spanje It’s especialy cool with cult playbook – because the cult roles can be given as legacy to the newcomers. And maybe old cult characters with lots of stash can become God Figures for Cult and have secret temples and covens built in their memory.
Interesting idea. I’d like to point out the latest quick start does give some incentive to stash coin as well, it is effectively a “wealth” stat that can be used for bribes and emergency purchases, can be converted back to normal coin at a reduced rate, and represents your general lifestyle, such as someone with less than ten basically living on the street of in seedy inns in the crew doesn’t have quarters in their lair. Which is just asking for attempted robberies and assassinations.
Mark Moller Wow, I totally missed those new stash rules, thanks for pointing that out.
Not sure about Turf – maybe some other form of area. Turf needs some regulation for its game effect.
Yeah the Stash rules have a really pleasant aftertaste.
