Is anyone playing a Hawkers crew? What are your Products?

My players began a Hawking enterprise and decided to start trafficking Dream Smoke. They want to be a high-class ring and thought Dream Smoke sounds suitably fancy. They determined that Dream Smoke is a bath-salts-esque substance that, when dissolved, produces a vapor that induces a fugue state accompanied by vivid dreams. Designer Dream Smoke can even induce specific dreams.

Their main competition is the Red Sashes, who also deal in high-end drugs, unlike the Lampblacks, who sell street drugs (Crow’s Foot is the drug den of Duskwall, home to three organizations). For their first score, they wanted to establish a Surplus Caches claim, so they set up a large fake buy with the Red Sashes and ripped off their package. I decided that their haul included a bonus drug they could add to their Products, and they selected Quicksilver because it also sounds fancy. Its properties are yet undetermined.

  1. Our crew of Hawkers started out selling unrefined leviathan blood to clients who were looking to avoid paying Imperial duties and taxes. Then, started selling a substance called Lighting Wine: high-vintage wine with a few drops of diluted leviathan blood. Not enough to cause visible physical changes or mutations, but enough to give you a really bad trip if you overdid it (think the exaggerated psychoactive effects of absinthe).

However, their current main-seller is “Mist”.

In the first session, they stole a cask of spirit essence that was being delivered to the gondoliers (in our game, a bluish, glittery substance with the consistency of sand that can be derived from destroyed spirits). Shortly thereafter, they decided to start a long-term project to use the spirit essence as a base for a new drug. By the seventh session, they had created Mist.

It’s essential supernatural crystal-meth. During use, it gives a very pleasant euphoria, that can last hours at a time. However, it’s negatives effects begin to emerge up to several days later. Since it’s derived from spirit essence, the user eventually begins to experience the various memories of the multiple spirits that went into making that ‘batch’.

It starts out innocuous at first — half-heard whispers and vanishing shapes on the edge of your field of vision — but they get stronger and more pronounced with continued use. And of course, it’s so highly addictive that even these frightening effects don’t dissuade users from seeking out another hit. Eventually, the user is reduced to raving madness as they try to fight or flee dangers that exist completely within their own mind — usually ending in violence to themselves and/or those around them.

So far, there have been a handful of incidents localized to a section of Crow’s Foot where our crew has initially distributed it — with the Inspectors now starting work on identifying and shutting down the drug’s source. However, if the crew can manage to keep up production and sale, things are going to get a whole lot worse, fast.
