The second part of the Blades in the Dark topic that my friends and I are exploring on our podcast.
We get into how Blades handles conflict, my audio/video set up (I use a player facing computer monitor to display images as well as the clocks, and I also play music that fits the scene), and I tell the story of Nihilistic Jeff Bridges to demonstrate that the clocks do not represent hit points but are an obstacle to be overcome.
This is great. And thanks so much for sharing your files! That’s a nice collection of stuff.
The level to which you “get” the game is very gratifying for me, Chad. Your breakdown of the elements and how they all fit together is so perfect.
Thanks John, my group and I are really enjoying the hell out Blades. Keep up the good work!
I like how these ideas turn over in various designer’s minds…
Rob Donoghue wrote a great essay series a few years ago for 4e that pulled apart the hitpoint paradigm and how they work far better as a pacing mechanism for obstacles.
